After a long pause in our publications, we couldn’t think of a more powerful way to return: it is with immense pride that we celebrate the extraordinary academic achievement of María Regina González Ramírez, a CENU alumna who has earned her Ph.D. in Finance from The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).

From her earliest years in elementary school, Regina stood out as a bright, disciplined, and committed student. She completed her elementary, middle, and high school education at CENU, where she was recognized for her academic excellence and exemplary work ethic.

Thanks to her outstanding academic performance and athletic talent in golf, Regina received a full scholarship to attend St. Mary’s University, where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Finance, her MBA, and a graduate certificate in Business Intelligence. She was named Outstanding MBA Student and proudly represented her university as part of the women's golf team.

In 2021, she began her Ph.D. in Finance at UTSA, focusing on econometrics, asset pricing, machine learning, and empirical finance. Her research has explored green bonds and corporate finance, and she has presented her work at academic seminars and industry conferences.
Today, Regina is not only celebrating her doctoral degree — she is becoming a symbol of perseverance, dedication, and a true passion for learning. To our community, she is a source of inspiration and a reminder that dreaming big is possible, and that a strong, human-centered education leads to accomplishments that go beyond the classroom.
From all of us at CENU, with heartfelt pride:
Congratulations, Dr. María Regina! Your future has no limits.
“Today’s perseverance is tomorrow’s success.”
